Chris Dons

Chief Financial Officer
Lawndale Christian Health Center

Chris Dons graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelor's Degree in Business & Economics in 1998. That same summer, he and his wife, Alyssa, moved into the South Lawndale neighborhood commonly known as Little Village. While spending three years as an auditor for Arthur Andersen, Chris earned a Master's Degree in Accountancy from DePaul University and eventually his license as a Certified Public Accountant. As Little Village became home, Chris began the search for an opportunity to use his accounting background to serve his neighbors and the community.

A week after September 11th, Chris began his career with Lawndale Christian Health Center. His primary responsibilities now include financial reporting and supervising the functions that supply those numbers. For a few years along the way this included the IT function and project managing the effort to move a 350+ user environment to virtual servers and completely hosted citrix desktops.

Life outside of finance and computers includes coaching, camping and for a season a little karate. He attends New Life Little Village church and serves as a financial liaison for the congregation there. He serves as treasurer for several local non-profits including Enlace Chicago and New Life Centers of Chicagoland. Other assets on his balance sheet include three sons and a yellow lab. As for liabilities, he's a self-proclaimed movie and NPR junkie. If asked what the retained earnings for his life so far are - he'd point to the incredible people he gets to work and live with every day, and the fact that he gets to move money "that matters and makes a difference in the lives of real people, who really need it."
